Everything you need to know about Sigwei and x402 payments

Sigwei is an experimental Web3 payments platform that enables gasless USDC transfers and API monetization on over x402 protocol. Send USDC for free and create payment-protected links (PayGates) for content and APIs. Transactions are relayed by Coinbase's x402  and by x402.rs facilitators. Sigwei works with any Web3 wallet supporting EIP-712 .
Sigwei makes blockchain payments as simple as HTTP requests. Ideal for developers monetizing APIs, content creators accepting micropayments, and AI agents needing automated payment capabilities. No blockchain infrastructure required - just standard web technologies.
x402 is an open protocol for Web3 payments over HTTP using the 402 “Payment Required“ status code. It enables seamless blockchain payments for web content and APIs without complex integrations. Learn more at https://x402.org .
Connect your wallet, enter the amount and recipient (Ethereum address or ENS name), and click "Send" to sign the transfer. Transactions are irreversible, so verify details carefully. All transactions are subject to facilitators' terms of service and Know Your Transaction (KYT) checks.
PayGates are payment-protected short proxy links that require payment before accessing content or APIs. Create a PayGate to monetize any URL - users pay once and get credits for multiple accesses. Perfect for API providers, premium content, or AI agents needing automated access to paid services.
Go to PayGates, connect your wallet, and provide the target URL, price in USDC, and number of credits per payment. You'll get a short link that requires payment before redirecting users to your content. Great for monetizing APIs without code changes: ZERO code, ZERO infrastructure, ZERO maintenance.
Yes, there are a few limitations to PayGates:
  • URL must be publicly accessible over HTTP.
  • Free tier: 10 PayGates are free, then 1 USDC per additional PayGate.
  • Rate-limit: 600 requests per minute per PayGate.
  • Response size limit: 1MB.
  • Request timeout: 10 minutes.
No fees as long as facilitators sponsor USDC transfers over x402. The exact amount you specify goes to the recipient. PayGate payments also have no additional fees beyond the price you set.
Yes! You maintain full control of your funds. Sigwei only relays your cryptographic signatures to the facilitator - we never access your private keys or control your assets. Wallet-based authentication ensures only you can manage your PayGates.
Base Mainnet and Base Sepolia. ENS domain resolution is supported for recipient addresses.
